Heeeey! So, only a week late. I just wanted to organise - oh who am I kidding? I got addicted to Katamari and forgot.

So Acen! It was good! We drove to Chicago on Thursday. I fell asleep in the back for about half the trip, yeah I'm a boring traveling companion. Hibb and Po had to entertain themselves and pretend that they weren't driving around some dead body - that's what I look like when I sleep in cars, head tipped back and mouth agape. Finally arriving, we dropped off our stuff (we had a hotel room booked with Saeru, U-E and Amanda) and went out for sushi. They have this place called Sushi Station that is like our Jaws (has the little conveyor-belt) but it's in this little clear tunnel that keeps it refrigerated. Nifty!

Friday morning saw the start of the con. Our roommates got up early to sort out their dealer booths and Hibb her art-table. Dressed up in my new costume, I tagged along to help. Plus it meant I could skip the huuuuge queue of people waiting to get in. There were several calls of "Bakura!" which made me grin. Yay! Recognizable costume FTW!

From then on the convention was filled with running around looking at everything, meeting artists, buying commissions, going to a couple of panels, taking photos and hanging out with past friends and new ones. Friday morning I spent mostly with Roundtable checking everything out and making sure I didn't get lost. I met Mooglegurl and ordered a commission of my fav British Millennium Item Bearer. She squee'ed when she spotted me and we both petted her pretty pictures. ^_^ I also got another cute commission but regrettably I forget who from. I bought a felt cake, some pins and prints, books, gloves, a pinstripe corset and a Kaiba mug. Heh heh I love it. Makes the tea taste so... rich and arrogant. XD

Also had a photoshoot with Amanda which was good fun. I've done quite a few during my degree and for some freelance work but always behind the camera. It was kinda strange being in front this time. But she was great at directing poses and shots, something I never was. There's a link to the pics in her journal but I'll post some up here too.

We had dinner out every night. Went to a really nice seafood place with Harl and two of her friends (sorry! Don't remember their names) and Jason (do you have a DA account?). That was quite interesting as half our table were still in costume. Don't know what the other patrons and staff thought. XD

Hibb, Po and myself also went to see the Star Trek film one night too. After watching Next Gen for the past week I was very excited to see it. I won't give away spoilers but I rather enjoyed it. Definitely worth going to see.

Overall I was pretty happy with my costume. One or two things I need to fix if I want to wear it again - correct colour shirt, and spike up the hair more. I got several comments on my ring, asking where i got it. Made it myself! And compliments on the wig, which was very cool considering it was only my second ever attempt at styling one (yes I made a new one after not being happy with the first). Also everyone who met me thought I actually was British, heh heh!

After seeing all the amazing costumes during the convention (I'll post some of them here) I'm itching to plan my next one! I'm thinking someone from Hetalia (Harl's love for it has fed my own addiction). I have a great fondness for England but I think Italy would suit me better. Wimpy little pasta-loving fool that I am. XD Would need to commission or order the uniform though.... Anyone got any seamstress recommendations? I'm a little wary about the quality of the ones you can commish on ebay.

I would also love for anyone to join me for Waicon!

All in all, a highly enjoyable event! Definitely want to go again.
