It was over 9000!

Mon Jul 6, 2009, 8:04 AM
Whooo boy... I'm exhausted. But happy. It was a good con. :D This was my first Supanova experience and my friend's less-than-enthusiastic description of last year's one didn't fill me with alot of confidence. But by the end of this weekend both she, myself and my other friends had enjoyed thoroughly ourselves.

I think the major highlight of the weekend was meeting Karl Urban, as you can see from my featured photo. Heh heh. We were a bit hyped for his attendance, having watched LotR and Doom the weekends before. And he didn't disappoint. Charming, handsome and with a great sense of humor. This was his first trip to Perth but he said he would certainly be coming back. Yay! And of course there were the other guests. Jake Lloyd, whom I went to listen to, and Richard Hatch, whom I got an autograph from, and many more.

I also bought a signed photo and cricket ball of Peter Davison, my favourite Doctor! A penicillin plush and a Captain Haddock shirt. Going to wear that to work on 'casual' Friday. I would have bought more but a mix-up with the bank got my account frozen on Friday (through no fault of mine) and they weren't open to fix it until Monday. Day before a con and no access to cash... Perfect timing...

Anyway I'm especially glad my friends enjoyed it. They didn't quite get the cosplay, but thought I was cute all the same. And my supervisor from work went with her siblings/friends and they dressed up. Her brother and his wife went as Dr Horrible and Penny and even got a prize in the cosplay comp on Saturday. Whoot! Was great to see.

As for my own cosplay, I had alot of fun as Italy and will definitely be wearing it again for Waicon. I'm actually trying to get a few people together for a group effort one of the days. If you're interested just let me know! (So far we've got China and a possible Germany and Russia.) I was very happy when people recognised the character, although a couple of others thought I was from FMA... Nevermind. And of course Bakura on Sunday was more familiar. I got a hug less than five minutes after putting on my wig! (Before I had even left the restroom hahaha.)

I didn't take a huge amount of photos unfortunately but I'll post up any good ones. Also a big shout out to the following DA people who I met and had a good time with. (If you're not on the list please don't take it personally. I'm really bad at putting real faces and DA account names together. But let me know who you were and I'll add you.)

For one of the days. Yeah, I'm hoping it won't be SO hot as last year but I imagine it'll still be pretty warm. Lotsa water! And a fan, methinks.

Reesh.... Melissa? I haven't confirmed anything with her yet.

Do it, you know you want toooo....

Haha, I loved your Italy outfit.

I was the girl with the two guys and little brother who were talking to you near the canteen.

Glad you had fun at SupaNova, and I hope to see you at Wai-Con again. :)

Oh you're always so lovely and awesome. I'm sure another comment saying so won't hurt though ;)

Supanova was alot of fun, mainly for the social aspect though. Thankyou for introducing me to your friends - they seem like a lovely group of people :)
And you're man! Ring a ding ding - go Kirstie! Teeheehee, sorry just wanted to make you blush.

I'm really looking forward to WaiCon but have no idea who I'm going to cosplay. I need to brainstorm.
I think if I start saving now, I can afford a well made cosplay through ebay.
